La invasion consentida
Description:
The relationship between Cuba and Venezuela in the last 16 years narrates the process of an unusual and uncommon type of colonization, one never before seen in history. It is a unique story, one of consensual invasion. The purpose of this book is to convey how Cuba, an island with the most precarious economy in the Americas, has managed to have and keep a significant influence over the country with the largest oil reserves in the world. Cuban leaders have not only obtained from Venezuela a subsidy equivalent to its previous Soviet aid but they have also deeply penetrated its structures of power to the point of having advisors in the Presidency and, practically, throughout all public administrations. Due to this, Fidel and Raul Castro have not had to forcefully impose themselves at all. The peculiar thing here is how the Venezuelan government has voluntarily submitted to the Cuban regime, in a way that has never been seen before in world geopolitics.
