A Escrava Isaura
Description:
A Escrava Isaura is one of the main works of Brazilian romanticism and a landmark in the literature in favor of the end of slavery. Isaura is a beautiful slave, raised as a daughter by the wife of Comendador Almeida, on a magnificent farm from the 19th century, in Campos de Goitacases, in Rio de Janeiro. Her beauty awakens multiple passions and libidinous desires, which Isaura tries to escape, particularly the advances of Leôncio, the commander's son, an authoritarian farmer who does not admit to being contradicted.
