Description:
Autumn 1942, Siberia. Sergeant Dorotov has planned the trip in every detail. The vehicle, a Soviet-made ZIS-6 truck, abandoned by the Red Army due to a leak in the radiator, will depart from Tyumen and pass through a series of urban centers to avoid the dangers of the countryside that could hide agents of the counterrevolution. In each city there should be a handful of selected men, ready to contain the risks. The use of violence has not been ruled out a priori. The goal, one only: to remove from the control of the Soviet authorities the embalmed body of Vladimir Il'ic Ul'janov, also known as Lenin, which was moved in haste from the capital threatened by the Nazi invasion. Along with Sergeant Dorotov are Private Antonov, recovering from a lobotomy for having noticed a certain mobility in the venerable corpse, and Olga, a woman with stubborn green eyes that seem to suggest to those around her the urgency of a marriage to extinguish that impudence in her gaze. Behind them, the impetuous advance of the 4th German Armored Army of General Hoth. At the end of the route, on the map, a single inscription: Itinerarium mentis in Lenin. This is how the ascetic determination of Sergeant Dorotov leads his companions on a physical and mental pilgrimage through Great Russia, an adventure of thought in search of uncorrupted morality, of total ideological integrity, of the absence of the damage that ruined socialism.
