Shinjuou no Musume
Description:
In October 1944, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill handed a pearl necklace to Hayakawa Kaoru of Teikoku Shinju's London branch. He requested the restoration of the "Hanaguruma," a Japanese traditional craftsmanship that had been exhibited at the Paris World's Fair. Despite being told, "Your country will not last another year," Kaoru returned to Japan and headed to the Mizuno family home, the only place in Japan where the pearl could be restored. Mizuno Fuyumi lives with her mother, a pearl craftsman. On the eve of her departure for a munitions factory in Hamamatsu as a student laborer, she learns that her real father is Todo Takakiyo, the founder of Teikoku Shinju and known as the "Pearl King." Despite being at the mercy of war and a male-dominated society, Fuyumi carves out her own destiny
