Eye to Eye in India
Description:
Come eye to eye with the people, architecture, and landscapes of India through Mohan Juneja's eyes. Juneja, born in 1936, returned to his country of birth to photograph it on separate occasions, mostly in the 1970s and 1980s. These photographs, accompanied by Juneja's introduction and extended captions, have been expertly drum-scanned and restored. This curated collection of 35mm, 6x6cm, and 6x17cm black and white and colour images is rendered in high-quality offset printing on 160 silk finish pages. The collection chronicles Juneja's interest in photographing India from 1948 to 2014. Full-page spreads of 21 immersive panoramas are the highlight of this collector's edition portfolio of art photography. The cloth reinforced spine is a perfect complement to the Smyth-sewn binding, making this a book that feels comfortable in your lap for optimal viewing of the panoramic spreads. A black and white headband garnishes the binding and is a nod to Juneja's early experiments in photography. Thoughtful details like metallic ink, foil-stamping, and debossing on the hard case-binding are protected with a durable, silk-satin coating that resists fingerprints. A glossy and attractive jacket is included to provide additional protection and the silver gloss ink and varnish give it a sheen that resembles vintage film.
