Khalf al-khutut: Behind the front line
Description:
This novel transcends the front lines and ventures into a rugged and dangerous territory that has long remained forbidden land, exploring what can be described as the impossible relationship between the Syrian soldier Anis and the Jewish soldier Sarah, and their encounter at a spring in the buffer zone, or the separation line drawn after the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel. What could possibly bring Anis and Sarah together? What conversations could a soldier and a female soldier, supposedly enemies pointing their weapons at each other, possibly have? How did a lasting relationship develop between them, during which they exchanged letters when meetings were scarce, until a meeting finally became possible years later in Paris? This novel answers these questions and more within a captivating narrative interwoven with numerous events
