Chijo no rakuen
Description:
Osaka, 1959. In a city where contempt and violence against Korean residents in Japan are rampant, a "repatriation movement" to North Korea, a country that has achieved reconstruction and equality and is known as a "paradise on earth," is heating up. High school student Kong In-hak urges his best friend Gen Yuta, who is caught up in a yakuza feud and in a difficult situation, to "return home." Yuta decides to go to North Korea, but the poor quality of the food and dirty bedding on the return ship make him feel uneasy about this "paradise." This film vividly depicts the youth of two unique individuals, and explores the roots of discrimination that continues to this day, as well as the hope that lies at the end of the flux. A heartbreaking entertainment masterpiece that is sure to move you to tears
