Ahead of the film's release, the director himself has published a novel titled "Exit 8"! "To compete globally, I have to create unique works that embody all of my identities, including nationality, gender, and race. As a result, at the Cannes Film Festival, people were amazed and amused that I'd been able to create such a story from a game that has no narrative at all." The novel, which he wrote in parallel with his work as a film director, depicts the ongoing inner workings of the protagonists' minds, which cannot be expressed in the film. Furthermore, the novel also features some of the "strange events" that were cut from the film, making it like a twin work. The live-action film "Exit 8" will be released nationwide at Toho theaters on Friday, August 29th. It stars Ninomiya Kazunari. It was selected for the Official Selection at this year's Cannes Film Festival and screened in the Midnight Screenings section. Prior to its release in Japan, the film has garnered attention around the world, with screenings already scheduled in over 30 countries and regions across Asia and Europe.
