Hataraku hon'ya
Description:
From morning to night, we followed people in the same profession, observing their work and lifestyle. A new photo picture book series (fully furigana) that adults and children can read together and think about the meaning of "work." ■Series text "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Adults often ask children this question casually. The answers vary, and it seems that some jobs become more popular with the times. However, whether you're a soccer player or a florist, just because you have the same job does not mean that you work and live in the same way. Our lives are made possible thanks to someone's work, but we don't really know what they think every day or how they live. Just like stopping to look up at the starry sky on a dark street, we want to observe the various "works" passing before our eyes. Adults and children alike can stand on the same level and think about what it means to work. That's how I would like to create this series. ■Recommendation ●Miroco Machiko (Picture book author) This world is made up of each and every one of us, one day at a time. The shoes we wear, the food we eat during our break, the pillow we use when we take a nap. We live alongside the "work" of many other people. My "work" is surely connected to someone, too. It makes me happy and makes me want to work again tomorrow. ●Toba Kazuhisa (Educator) Living means connecting with society. And connecting with society means connecting with other workers. I want to have pleasant relationships with the people I connect with. To do that, I want to do work that is refreshing for both of us. This book is filled with the refreshing feeling of work, and teaches us to work as we live. ■Series lineup *This series (the first four books) are new editions, printed in large format using offset printing, based on the risograph versions published by Ambooks, a little press publishing label. ・Scheduled to be published in September 2024 ◆A Working Bookstore ◆A Working Chinese Restaurant ・Scheduled to be published in November 2024 ◆A Working Bookbinder ◆A Working Library ・Scheduled to be published in February 2025 ◆A Working Veterinary Hospital ◆A Working Gardener ■A Working Bookstore Hasegawa Bookstore, a small bookstore in Osaka, is a local bookstore loved by local people, from children to the elderly.
