Soleil d'abandon
Description:
On a sweltering night, unable to sleep, Emmanuelle and Jacob glimpse a strange red glow through the trees, not far from their house. The next day, they receive a visit from Inspector Richard Cloutier. Charred human remains have been discovered on the road, surrounded by a wide circle of ash and soot. They are suspected to be those of a child. Emmanuelle is a painter who creates hyperrealistic paintings featuring herself, including one depicting a birth that never took place. Jacob is an astrophysicist awaiting asteroid dust to be collected from a mission in which he is participating as a researcher. And while his brother, François, a desert enthusiast, ventures into the Atacama Desert in South America, his partner, Julie, remains by the pool, offering her body to the relentless sun. Everyone's life will be touched by the haunting presence of the unknown child, but none more so than Inspector Cloutier, who has resolved to make this case a personal battle. He has promised the child he will help him find his way, his place, his home, his parents. —Back cover
