Birthdays are very special days – for children, for parents, and for Mummel! What a fuss! It's Mummel's green-spotted birthday. And of course, it has to be perfect. For everyone. And especially for the birthday Mummel. Because on your birthday, you get everything you want. So, a pirate ship cake, even though it was supposed to be a race car cake. And a parking garage, even though a dollhouse was actually requested. But is that really true? Do you really always get what you want just because it's your birthday? Mummel's green-spotted birthday girl learns that, unfortunately, that's not the case. Never. Of course, everyone tries their best to fulfill each other's wishes – especially the spontaneous ones – and there are actually many times when that works: Minimalmel gets his pancake breakfast, even though on Mummel birthdays, birthday cake is usually served for breakfast. The pinkish-purple Mummel gets to show off his almost perfect handstand during the birthday video call. The cool Mummel, however, isn't allowed to sleep in, and the orange Mummel doesn't get a present because his birthday isn't until winter. When the green-spotted Mummel gets annoyed that the parking garage isn't a real parking garage, but actually a dollhouse, and wants to invite lots of other Mummels to a spontaneous party so that maybe they'll give him a real parking garage after all, the cuddly Mummel says: No. This, of course, leads to frustration, anger, and sadness. But the cuddly Mummel is good at comforting and handling anger, and so everything is all right again at the end of the birthday. Even though it wasn't perfect – or perhaps it was? A story that all parents and children will know and love: because immense joy, tingling happiness, and profound disappointment are especially close together on birthdays.
