Jak rozbilam szklo
Description:
For nearly thirty years, Tulia never received a birthday gift. She could not wear short skirts. She could not voice her opinions aloud. She was forbidden from seeing the boyfriend she loved—simply because he was not one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She knew that someone would immediately report her "sins," and she would be forced to spend hours recounting them before a judicial committee. She believed that this was exactly how things ought to be—that she was duty-bound to obey Jehovah, for that is what she had been told by everyone she trusted. Why, then, did she begin to doubt? What caused the first cracks to appear in the protective dome beneath which she lived? This is a deeply personal story about life in a world where joy is a sin, privacy is a matter for the congregation, and leaving means severing ties with everyone you love. It is the story of a young woman who chose freedom.
