Description:
Lee Jae-gu's \"Freedom to Give Up\" realistically depicts how human desire, fragility, greed, envy, and jealousy dominate life, unfolding over three generations in the story of a family's downfall and revival. Driven from their hometown by a rice mill fire, Sang-jun and Pyeong-san endure their difficult lives, driven by the desire to raise their children and return to their hometown. Despite struggling to make ends meet, Sang-jun and Pyeong-san's teachings about the importance of building a family unite the children and foster a bond of friendship. However, it's human nature to seek a larger share of the wealth once things improve. Pyeong-san's children, who appear in the novel, are no exception.
