Blaue Romanze
Description:
When Julian first spots Myriam in a karaoke bar in Marseille, he simply cannot look away. One conversation, one duet, and one illicit climb up a construction scaffold later, that remains just as true. Myriam, too, senses it: this is unlike anything she has experienced before. Both are young, well-read, and critical--and hovering over it all is the magic and lightness of Marseille. Yet contact breaks off when they return to their respective lives--Myriam to Paris, Julian to Berlin. When Myriam arrives in Berlin to pursue her PhD, their paths cross once again. But in the wake of October 7th, their social circles fracture into two opposing camps--and they find themselves standing on opposite sides. With unflinching precision and subtle wit, Nora Haddada's "Blaue Romanze" tells a story of love, political discourse, and the tragedy of our present age.
