Ein grenzenloser Sommer
Description:
Summer 1988: Twenty-year-old Ronni and Sabine, in her mid-twenties, meet aboard the MS "Arkona", a cruise ship of the GDR. She is a law student traveling in first class; he is a humble steward. She lives in Frankfurt am Main; he hails from Dresden. Their journey takes them to Scandinavia, sailing along the great port cities of the Baltic--with an exclusively West German passenger list, an East German crew, and the Stasi on board. Ronni and Sabine soon find themselves drawn to one another, despite their vastly different worlds. The two can only meet in secret. In the ship's laundry room, they share their favorite films, their worries, and their secret dreams. But then their relationship is discovered, and the State Security places Ronni under pressure. He is forced to choose--between his country and love.
