Description:
Along the chestnut avenue, elegant fin-de-siécle villas are hidden behind high garden fences. The upper class and all those who like to be part of it live here. Doctors and lawyers, industrialists, but also newcomers who may not be able to connect with the exquisite neighborhood even after years. But behind the flawless facade, not everything is well. A lawyer in financial difficulties, a psychiatrist who is walking on the edge, a playboy who lives at the expense of his wife, an heir who follows bad tendencies, a tobacconist who hates his wife and daughter or an unemployed historian who is urgently looking for a restitution case. They are all characters in a game that is becoming increasingly dangerous. A wealthy couple in their prime observes and comments on the dislocations in the neighborhood with fatalistic humor. Meanwhile, the women in the story gradually take their trivial fates into their own hands.
