Über die Toten nur Gutes
Description:
Mads Madsen, a professional eulogist, is tasked with writing a speech for Patrick—his former best friend from childhood—after Patrick is killed by a car. But why did Patrick have to die? Mads, who had long since lost touch with him, sets out to retrace his steps and track down the people in Patrick’s life. Patrick has left a trail of clues, including letters written in invisible ink; in doing so, Mads stumbles into a hornet's nest of corruption, drugs, and lies. One by one, the people Mads visits are killed or find themselves in grave danger. Mads himself, along with his family and friends, also comes under threat. Detective Chief Inspector Luisa Mills disbelieves his story and considers him a prime suspect. How can he possibly escape this situation and do justice to Patrick’s memory? After a humorous opening, the Cologne-based author delivers a virtuoso crime thriller—growing increasingly intense—that explores themes of friendship, dreams, violence, betrayal, and revenge. The book stands out thanks to its wonderfully quirky characters and brilliant dialogue. A sequel is scheduled for release in the autumn of 2026.
