Rondonbashi de hirotta yume
Description:
This is one book in a series of stories for mothers to read aloud. Ms. Kayama has collected folktales from various countries that are suitable for reading aloud, and it's presented like an a la carte menu, so it might be an appealing book for children. But what's truly wonderful are the illustrations by Seiji Fujishiro, who beautifully depict the diverse themes of the stories with shadow puppetry. The stories are the main focus, so it seems that the reader, not the child, enjoys the pictures. It was a book that felt like a real bargain.
