Chama Devoradora
Description:
Feeling the shadow of old age approaching, and with the bright possibility of a child's birth growing ever more distant, Joe Saul despairs about the legacy he will leave in the world. Mordeen, his wife, loves him deeply, but, certain that they cannot have children together, yields to the advances of young Victor. Day by day, the family's dream grows, finally, and is about to become a reality - and their friend Ed will do everything to ward off any threats to their complete happiness. It is these four characters that the four scenes of the novel, the third novel-play written by John Steinbeck in 1950, unfold around. Inspired by a moralizing medieval story, this is a portrait of the entanglement of human lives, dominated by passions and vulnerability, desires and despair, which questions us as a species: who does the responsibility for the life of each child belong to?
