As if the narratives began before and ended after the one who tells them. In Joyce's Student, tales where the characters are falling — even if on very firm ground. The fall for the human is in the vertical what the destination is in the horizontal. The destination is a horizontal fall. In the fall, the human or the rat can do nothing. We are all animals when we fall. But here, in Drago Jancar's tales, even in fall — horizontally, at great speed towards the destination — the animal is always conscious, ambiguous — and the narrator, the latter, is hypermental. The narrator, in many of the tales, seems to be a detailed observer who, faced with the tragedy of a human, describes not the scream, but rather, in detail, the buttons of his shirt.
