Relatos de Certos Factos
Description:
Through courtroom testimonies, "Relato de Certos Fatos" (Account of Certain Facts) explores the discrepancy between lived experience and the nature of justice. Yasmina Reza creates a kind of theater of reality on the page, examining, precisely through court proceedings, the limitations of love in human relationships and the possibility of violence that is often on the surface. Interspersed are small episodes and reflections by the narrator (who is also the author), some very brief, which illustrate, in other varying ways, life in retrospect - beginning with photographic observations of elderly Venetian couples, so close and leisurely that they merge into one body, and in the dark alleys and shadowy, labyrinthine waters of the lagoon city. A meditative and moving book, as unexpected as it is moving.
