When she was a child, Maria Alberta Menéres went to live with her family on an isolated farm in Ribatejo. Surrounded by Nature, with electric light reduced to a few hours at the end of the day and with the starry sky as company, she spent her nights at the window, fascinated by the sounds and movements of the wild and domestic animals that lived there, and with whom she dialogued in her imagination: Owls, foxes, wild boars, hedgehogs, chameleons, wild chickens, dogs, lizards of all colors, cuckoos, woodpeckers, singing birds of a thousand species, thoroughbred horses (which he rode masterfully) and many other creatures, which populated his magical and wonderful world.
