Gli omicidi dei tarocchi
Description:
Trieste is a city accustomed to silence, but this time it falls silent out of fear. A faceless killer has committed two murders; the victims appear to have nothing in common, save for the tarot cards found at the crime scenes: Temperance and the Wheel of Fortune. The moment Detective Emma Bellini sees them, a chill runs through her. Those cards belong to a deck hand-crafted by her sister Maia--an artist and devotee of the esoteric-- who she hasn't spoken with in years. Now, Emma cannot avoid a confrontation. She must find Maia, question her, and understand the link between the deck and the murders. Maia, however, is terrified: she reveals that she destroyed all the cards long ago, following a traumatic event that upended her life and led her to forever renounce divination. It was a trauma that left a single word seared into her memory--like a distant echo or a brand: "Safir". When a third body is discovered with yet another card beside it, the investigation becomes a race against time. As Emma follows the logical threads of a riddle that defies all reason, Maia turns back to the tarot in an attempt to make peace with her past--and, perhaps, to find her sister.
