L'amica tedesca
Description:
Erika, a writer and journalist who has lived in Rome for years, runs into her friend Giorgio while out for a walk; accompanying him is Lena, a young woman of German origin with a lively, open personality. Lena's curiosity about Erika is immediately apparent, while Erika herself feels unsettled by the young woman's overwhelming persistence. Over time, the two women grow closer, forging a complex and multifaceted friendship. Through Lena's stories, Erika uncovers a past marked by abuse and abandonment--a history that stands in stark contrast to the young woman's seemingly carefree nature. These confidences become a mirror for Erika, reflecting on her own past and feelings. Meanwhile, Lena seeks refuge in the worlds of art and spirituality, briefly returning to Germany to stage an exhibition of her paintings. Yet, on the day of the opening, a sudden event dramatically shatters their bond.
