Onŭl put'ŏ ch'in'gu 1-il
Description:
Due to emotional wounds inflicted by peers in the first grade, Min-jae feels a heavy, burdensome weight in his heart--much like a water-filled balloon--even after transferring to a new school. In a classroom where no one reaches out to him, he feels as lonely and invisible as a ghost. Then, Seung-jae, who is his complete opposite, transfers to the school and becomes his desk mate. From his very first day, Seung-jae moves energetically around the classroom, striking up conversations with everyone and eagerly trying to make friends. Min-jae finds Seung-jae both fascinating and, at times, a bit annoying, making it difficult for him to open up. However, when Seung-jae uses his quick wit to help Min-jae out of an awkward situation--needing to use the toilet during class--a small shift begins to take place in Min-jae's heart. Neither boy tries to force himself to fit the other, nor do they impose their own ways of doing things. Instead, they gradually open their hearts to one another while remaining true to their own natures--Min-jae with his cautious, introverted temperament, and Seung-jae with his lively, extroverted personality. As they grow closer, the initial sense of resistance--the feeling that "he is different from me"--fades, replaced by a budding curiosity and a desire to become friends.
