Pôr-do-sol com leão deitado
Description:
In the first part of this book, we encounter a writer who recently lost his mother, and who sometimes shares with readers his hygienic walks in the area where he lives, offering us an invaluable sociological portrait of a certain Porto, and at other times reveals his quarrels with his longtime companion, who he seems to differ from in almost everything except the affection that unites them. In the second part, through the voice of one of his handlers, we follow the life of Sofala, a lion captured in Mozambique while still young, who traveled to Porto in the 1930s to be proudly displayed at the Portuguese Colonial Exhibition, after which he was forgotten in a cage. Finally, the figure of the writer António Nobre will come to us at the end of the 19th century, either through the story of his life narrated by others, or through the reading of his own diary, which does not escape the constraints of the social norms of the time, evidently restrictive of his sexual preferences. Equally gifted for comedy as for tragedy, Mário Cláudio continues to surprise us with his literary proposals, as well as with the vibrant and rich language he brings to each new work
